Career Highlights
Ratan Tata joined the Tata Group in 1962 and gradually worked his way up through various positions. In 1991, he succeeded J.R.D. Tata as the chairman of Tata Sons. Under his leadership:
- Tata Group expanded into global markets.
- Acquired prestigious global brands like Jaguar Land Rover and Tetley Tea.
- Launched India’s first indigenous car, the Tata Indica.
- Introduced the world’s cheapest car, the Tata Nano, reflecting his concern for the common man.
